End User License Agreement and Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2026
By downloading, installing or using the Shrink Wizard software ("Software"), you agree to these terms. The Software is made by Tucker Willenborg ("we", "us").
1. Your data and backups
Please keep backups of anything important. You are responsible for your own backups of any data you process with the Software.
To reach protected folders such as Applications, the Software asks for extra permissions: on macOS, Full Disk Access and a helper that runs with administrator privileges; on Windows, administrator rights. You can decline, and protected folders will then be skipped.
2. License grant
Free software. Shrink Wizard is free to use, with unlimited compression and no license key required. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software for personal or commercial purposes. It is provided free of charge, with no warranty and no obligation to support or update it.
Previously purchased Pro licenses. These terms continue to honor existing purchases. A Pro license is a one-time purchase of a perpetual, non-exclusive license. The license stays with you: you may not sell or transfer it. You may use it on any devices you choose, up to 5 at a time, including devices used by people you share it with. When all 5 are in use, a device that hasn't been used for 180 days gives up its place to a newly activated one. Please don't publish your key.
3. Updates and continued use
You may keep using any version of the Software you have obtained, for as long as you like. We will not remotely disable your license except as described in section 5 or after a breach of these terms. We may release updates, but we are not obligated to provide updates, new features, support, or compatibility with future versions of macOS or Windows.
Older versions may require our license server to activate Pro. We may not operate that server forever. A device that is already activated keeps Pro if it cannot reach the license server, as long as the app's license data on that device has not been erased (for example, by a factory reset).
4. Third-party software
The Software includes open source components that are licensed to you under their own terms, listed on the Third-Party Licenses page. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licenses.
5. Refunds and revocation
Pro purchases can be refunded within 14 days, as described in our Refund Policy. We reserve the right to deactivate a license if payment for it is refunded, reversed or not completed.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DATA LOSS, FILE CORRUPTION, SYSTEM INSTABILITY, OR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR IT AND US$10.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
8. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; the new version applies from when it is posted here. Your license ends if you breach these terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.
