Privacy Policy

Shrink Wizard is made by Tucker Willenborg ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Shrink Wizard app for macOS and Windows, the shrinkwizard.com website, and the license server at api.shrinkwizard.com. The short version: your files never leave your computer, the app has no analytics, and the current version requires no account or license key.

The app

Shrink Wizard processes your files entirely on your own computer. We never upload your files, file names, paths or contents anywhere. The app contains no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting. The permissions it asks for (Full Disk Access and a helper with administrator privileges on macOS, administrator rights on Windows) are used only to compress and restore files on your computer.

The current app makes network requests to check for updates:

• Update checks. The app checks our servers for new versions. Like any web request, update checks reveal your IP address and the requested platform to the server. We use aggregate request counts by day and platform as a rough indication of app activity. These counts contain no device identifier, file information or savings data.

Older versions may also contact api.shrinkwizard.com to activate or verify a previously purchased Pro license. Those requests include the license key and a device ID derived from a SHA-256 hash of the hardware identifier. The current free version does not need those checks.

Previous purchases

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your full card details. For previous Pro purchases, Stripe sent us the details you entered at checkout (your name, email address and billing address) along with the checkout and payment identifiers. We store only your email address and those identifiers, with your license key, the time of purchase, the device IDs you have activated, and whether the purchase was refunded or disputed. We also record where the purchase started (the app, or the site that referred you to shrinkwizard.com) and your answers to any optional questions we ask at checkout. We use your email address to deliver your license and to answer support requests. Stripe keeps its own records of your payment under its privacy policy.

The website

shrinkwizard.com uses cookieless analytics that count page views, referring sites, browsers and countries. We also count downloads per day by installer, referring site and country; these counts contain nothing that identifies you. The website sets no cookies.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers below, and only as needed to provide Shrink Wizard. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.

• Stripe holds payment records for previous purchases and processes refunds.
• Cloudflare hosts the website, the license server and its database, and the downloads, sends license emails, and provides the cookieless website analytics. Its server logs may include your IP address and are handled under its privacy policy.

Why we use your data

We use your data to deliver and enforce the license you bought, to answer your support requests, and to keep the records that tax and accounting rules require. We don't use it for advertising or profiling.

Where it is stored

Our license database is stored by Cloudflare in North America, and Stripe is based in the United States. Requests to our servers are handled by Cloudflare's nearest data center, which may be outside your country.

Retention and your choices

We keep license records for as long as the license exists, and as long as tax and accounting rules require. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or for a copy of it, by emailing support@shrinkwizard.com. Deleting a license record also deactivates that license. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Shrink Wizard is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date above.
